Good news, everyone! Almost all the main UI elements are back! Of course there's still a lot missing, but this release is probably the first one you can actually use without missing much from 0.1. (more ...)

Release: boxen0.2-alpha1
Submitted by mike on Sun, 12. 02. 2012 - 17:33Yay! I'm starting to release development versions of boxen again (which are from now on called "alpha" rather than "dev", to be a bit more consistent with traditional software numbering). However: this release is still missing a lot of the functionality of the current stable version. I strongly recommend that you don't switch to this version! (more ...)
Google ads
Submitted by mike on Fri, 06. 01. 2012 - 15:24I've decided to show Google ads on shebang.at. This is more an experiment to see how well it goes, I don't expect to get much money from it, however the idea is that I can maybe someday finance the server I'm renting through those ads.
I'm personally very annoyed by ads on the net, so I'm not taking this lightly. If you think the ads are inappropriate please let me know, if enough people think so I will remove them.
I & D - part 2
Submitted by mike on Tue, 27. 12. 2011 - 12:05One thing I've learned through having a blog is that I really suck at having a blog. Writing an article takes more time than I thought it would take, and there's a lot of interesting stuff to do besides writing a blog entry.
Anyway, I'll dive straight into part 2 and I'll talk a bit about bindings. This is a surprisingly relevant topic if you want to work with D.(more ...)
A quick update on where boxen is going
Submitted by mike on Sat, 05. 11. 2011 - 10:39It's been a long time since I've released anything. After the release of 0.1.0 I took a couple of weeks "off" from the project, but I've already started working on the 0.2 branch. It will take some time, though, until I will have something usable again. (more ...)

Release: boxen 0.1-beta2
Submitted by mike on Mon, 15. 08. 2011 - 18:09It's now nearly exactly 2 years ago that I started with this project and I'm nearly ready for the first stable release. This release, however, is another beta that contains a lot of bugfixes and a small surprise. (more ...)
The critic
Submitted by mike on Thu, 11. 08. 2011 - 20:31I think of myself as a fairly competent programmer. I'm doing this for a long time now, and writing code is the thing I think I can do best. And I really, really like doing it.
But it's easy to say things like that in public. Sure, I'm a great programmer. I can say that all day. But how do I really rate my skills? Am I actually that kind to myself in - say - the comments I make in my code? Well - let's dive in and find out! (more ...)
