Tenzing

Tenzing is the name of my experimental music project. I say experimental because for me it is about trying things out musically, it's not necessarily pushing the boundaries of music, but it's fun to play around and put together some tracks.

The project was born in or around 1998 on a Yamaha RM1x groove box. Previously I had mainly built Techno/Electro tracks, but with this project I wanted to leave those constraints behind and do whatever came into my mind. I soon found out that Tenzing centered around Downtempo/Trip Hop, with influences from all sorts of genres. The great thing about this time is that the RM1x was very limited (no sampling, for example), forcing me to really concentrate on things like, for example, building beats from scratch.

Around 2001 I upgraded to a Yamaha RS7000 which introduced sampling and better audio quality into the project Tenzing. It was at this time that I started getting very interested in the technical aspects of mixing and mastering audio. I also started experimenting with integrating computers into my setup.

Since around 2005 or so I'm mainly working in Ableton Live. Nearly all the tracks you will find here are from this period, I will probably add some older tracks here over time. Anyway, that's some history behind this project, and here are some links to some actual music:

Tenzing - Das Grosse Und Das Kleine Ohrwaschl
Tenzing - Midway (Raw Version)
Tenzing - Mikrofontest
Tenzing - Things Of Physics
Tenzing - Crowdsalat
Tenzing - Raumschiff (Iteration 1)
Tenzing - Nova Prospekt (Draft 3)
Tenzing - I Think I Love Her
Tenzing - Serenity (Instrumental)
Tenzing - Kaschmir
Tenzing - Void

On occasion I'm also remixing stuff other people make. Here, for example, is a remix I did for another Austrian electronic musician, Spielmann.

Spielmann - NGC152 (Tenzing Remix)
